How To Meditate
Let me firstly point out that meditation should be enjoyable, especially when you understand the amazing "Benefits"
you can get from meditation.
Plus Dr Sara Laza (Harvard) has shown the meditation can increase new brain cells - this is called NeuroGenesis.
Quick Personal NeuroGenesis Story
NeuroGenesis can be enhanced with "Water Fasting" and supplementation of Lithium Orotate.
"Here"
I explain what happened and how I rebuilt my brain after a terrible accident in 2023 in which I died twice - and "Here"
I list the herbs and other stuff I used.
In my personal opinion, meditation played a critical role in my NeuroGenesis.
Always sit comfortably while meditating, and as you advance - and you are capable - your body will adjust to suit your needs.
Lets Start
This is an introduction meditation example.
Wash and dry your hands.
Sit comfortably with NO incense and NO music - and NO sounds.
You are searching for your soul and that takes patience and silence.
I list many different meditation techniques here on the "Main Nav"
page.
Step 1) Breathe
We are going to do 5 deep + slow breaths - try and take approx 10 seconds inhale and 10 seconds exhale.
I have created this "10 Second Meditation Ping"
to help you get started. This is on YouTube so you may get ads.
However, if you have a computer or phone which allows you to LOOP music, please download one of these to listen to without ads.
Just click and it will automatically download. Save in folder or on desktop where you have easy access to it.
Play in LOOPING mode on your player or computer.
How This Works
Breath in for 10 seconds, then breath out for 10 seconds.
You need to be able to do this for a minimum of 1 hour and ideally 2 or 3 hours if you want to do advanced meditation.
Once you have mastered the 10 second ping method, then move on to the 15 second ping.
You will find this harder than you think, especially for 2 or 3 hours.
Click here for the 5, 10, 15 and 20 second;
Step 2) Choose a Mantra
Something simple like OM but learn how to say the "OM Mantra"
properly from the start please.
Honestly, you can use any positive word as a mantra, even "Positive Affirmations"
if you like.
However, I do suggest starting off with just a single word Mantra for at least several months.
Jumping around with mantras become distracting and many people have told me that they feel unsatisfied when they do this.
So please stick to the one mantra to start with.
Step 3) Say the mantra
When you start meditating, please say the mantra out loud.
This helps focus your mind and also helps create a resonant vibration throughout your body.
When you get good at doing this OM mantra, you will notice your entire body vibrating.
If you want to try something really cool, please consider this "mantra feedback loop"
Step 4) Focus on your Breathing
Focus on your breathing and your mantra and try and disregard everything else.
If you keep getting distracted by your "Monkey" mind, do not worry, eventually you will be able to control this and focus more intently.
I have some tips for controlling the "Monkey Mind"
here.
Step 5) 2 Or More People
If you are meditating with another person or even people, please consider these things first before meditation.
Bless each other before you start, this may sound strange but when you read "this information"
- it should all make sense.
I also show you have to "Synchronize"
your energy with your partner, or family or "group"
.
Step 6) Same Time
Try and meditate at the same time each day (if possible) otherwise when ever you can.
Step 7) Same Place
Try and meditate in the same place each meditation session (if possible).
Step 8) Diary
Many people like to keep a diary and write down their experiences.
This is a good idea for keeping a progression of your journey.
Enjoy and Be Happy and you will get greater positive benefits from meditation than you may believe.
How To Sit
Different people will tell you to sit this way or that way and often these people are on ego trips because they can sit in the full lotus and they get a sadistic pleasure from watching others in pain as they try and sit in this uncomfortable position.
If you grow up sitting in this position, that is fine, but if you are a "Westerner", then your legs will kill you (metaphorically speaking).
Westerners and Older People
Sit comfortably on a chair, lounge or even (my favorite) on a reclining chair.
Buddhism actually has a word for this and it is called "Sukhasana".
Please Note that you do not need to sit on the floor or sit in the lotus position.
So long as you keep your back as straight as possible, this is the important piece of posture advice I can suggest.
Rest your hands on your legs in an open handed manner.
Mudras
Mudras are positions of the hands which you often see is Kung-Fu movies. The most common one associated with meditation is when the thumb and index finger are touching and the other 3 fingers are opened.
Many people cannot do Mudras because of various reasons, but eventually, after you are conversant with meditation, your hands will automatically form patterns - often associated with Mudras.
But to get started, keeping your back as straight as possible and sitting comfortably is the most important things you need to focus on.
BTW:
I tilt my recliner back approx 30 degrees only so that I am sitting up and not laying down - which often inspires sleep if I lean back too far.
