Top Tikun Project

The Tikun Project is about all of us being coordinated in our meditation adventure.

This is a daily meditation done at 8 PM (2000 hours for those on military time).

Why is 8 PM a good time?

8 PM is usually when most people have come home from work, relaxed a while, had dinner, had a shower and are ready to relax for the second time.

I also cover some external reasons here why is a good time.


Top Buddhism

Commonly referred to as or "Ambrosial Hours", it is in the morning before sunrise begins - approx 90 minutes before sunrise and ends approx 50 minutes before sunrise. This gives you an approximate time "window" of 40 minutes.

This is because there is a stillness which makes it easier to meditate instead of during the day or early night when there is a cacophony of sounds and thoughts.

This time is locally Geo-Located and is separate from the other countries or the rest of the world.

If you think logically, you would rightly assume that this period still has to contend with all of the other people awake around the world in different time zones to yourself. And in truth, you would be 101% correct.

However, in a similar way that you cannot hear sounds when they are too far away and too low, a similar concept applies to the "BrahmaMuhurtha" period of time.

This is also in part because the average person does not produce high level brain patterns which means that it is only the cacophony of "the masses" which causes any kind of (psychic) disturbance.

Consider the which has the potential to reverse this destructive monkey-mind chatter on steroids.

Perhaps it is just that the cacophony of noises are mitigated due to the vast majority of people around you (personally) being asleep.

This gives you a golden opportunity to have better quality meditations.


Top Judaism

Usually after the midnight prayers.

Although I have also met those who claim that meditating before midnight will enhance the prayers.

It is said of the first Hasidim that they would pray the Sh'moneh Esrei (Amidah) prayers 3 times a day (+ the midnight prayers) and each prayer time would last hours.

The prayers called the Sh'moneh Esrei (there are actually 19 prayers), were said with such focus and intent that this is what would take so long to say prayers which usually take 20 or so minutes when rushed.

These Hasidim used the Sh'moneh Esrei as a mantra and they became so engrossed in the prayers that they completely disregarded the time.

This focus and intent can also be applied to regular meditation and when done in conjunction with deep, slow breathing exercises, can cause a profound and deeply religious experience to the meditator.

If you are saying 1 word per exhale breath, it is easy to see how this would take so long.


Top Normal People

Usually, normal people with a busy daily schedule find the best time to meditate is in the evening before bed.

Older people usually get the midday sleepies - but they do not know that they can often substitute sleeping for 30 - 60 ++ minutes of deep meditation.

This is where becomes so important.

Back when the internet was called Television, I remember watching a documentary about Lee Iacocca (Chrysler Corporation USA automobile executive) where he said that he used to meditate daily for up to 1 hour around midday and was an open advocate of meditation because of the benefits he experienced.


Top Students

Personal Meditation is also an extremely good idea, especially for students.

This should be done (ideally) in the morning twilight hours, before anyone in the house wakes up and (ideally) before the neighborhood wakes up.

Tikun Project

While these other times are suggested for personal meditation, we would please ask you to also commit to the 8 PM meditation time so that we can all "link up" around the world.

I Digress

The problem is that there is so much disinformation online, it is a tragedy.

Remember the - for those of us studying nutrition in the 1980's - which we were all forced to learn and subscribe to? How important it was to eat this and that?

Then we find out that the was propaganda and a complete Sales and Marketing scam concocted by certain companies to promote their products.

Another point overlooked is that if you study in the early AM and then meditate, this refreshes your brain so your memory retention is enhanced.

Some people claim that meditating before study is best for them while others like to meditate after studying - it is your choice.

Point 1: However, none of these debunking reports mention the fact that sugar robs the brain of valuable Minerals, and you need to supplement on Minerals, enzymes, amino acids and vitamins to have an improved memory.

Point 2: You can also use meditation, certain Minerals and herbs to not only enhance memory, but also to stimulate new brain cell growth. It is called + + + + .
