What Is Yantra Meditation?
Yantra Meditation (in simple terms) channels visual energy similar to a mantra.
Mantra
A Mantra is a word or words (or sound) which you repeat continuously throughout your meditation.
You can also use the "Wordless Song" as your mantra if you are advanced enough but it is beyond the understanding of most people so please do not ask about this.
Typically this "sound" should be "Chanted" but a common variant is to meditate while repeating the "mantra" silently.
So What Is A Yantra? ↟↟
Similar to a Mandala, a Yantra is a visual representations of cosmic energies and even specific deities (you need to understand the context), made from a symmetrical arrangement of geometric shapes.
Yantra or Mandala?
A Mandala is a general description for a geometric diagram representing the universe or psyche, while a Yantra is a specific, often more complex and practical form of a Mandala that acts as a spiritual "instrument" or "tool" for rituals and meditation.
Possibly the most well known Mandalas are the "Sand Mandalas" which we often see on TV or movies where the Monks do a complex pattern using colored sand and then destroy the Mandala when completed.
A Yantra also requires the process of "Prana Pratishtha" (life force infusion) which is typically performed by an "Upasaka" or "Guru" and is crucial for activating a Yantra.
By activating the "Yantra" correctly, the residual spiritual energy is said to (potentially) last years, decades and in some cases, if the Guru is highly ascendant enough, even hundreds of years.
These extremely long lasting Yantras are required to also consist of "panchaloha" (a mix of five metals: gold, silver, copper, zinc, and iron).
The spiritual power of the Guru during the initial activation determines its core strength and potential longevity.
The "Yantra Bindu" refers to the central point, or bindu, of a Yantra and is the focal point you should stare at when utilizing Yantra Meditation.
How To Do Yantra Meditation
I will only give a simple description here because I was taught that Yantra Meditation can be very powerful and you should have an experienced teacher to sit with you "One On One" when you start doing Yantra Meditation.
Yantra Meditation is a variant of "Gazing Meditation".
Method One - The Chanting Method↟↟
Firstly, be clean, be comfortable, do not wear tight clothing.
Focus your breathing on one breath IN every 10 seconds and one breath OUT every 10 seconds and keep this rhythm for the duration of your meditation. ("10 Second Meditation Ping" )
The Chanting Method.
1) Place the Yantra image in a position in front of you which is easy to see the full image and then literally stare at the CENTER of the Yantra image.
2) Choose a simple base mantra (OM is good).
If you are an advanced meditator, you may like to consider the "Mano Buddhi Mantra".
Start saying the "mantra" until you feel the resonant vibration flowing throughout your body.
Focus on the center of the Yantra image while chanting.
3) Feel yourself being visually drawn into the center of the Yantra image and then feel your mind expanding out into the universe (or other focal point).
This can be done by letting go of your conscious mind and just flowing like you are on a boat floating down a river.
4) You should approach this meditation with specific goals. These may include getting answers to questions you feel are important.
When you start doing this meditation, it may feel like your mind is walking a tightrope off a cliff, and this is why you should do this with a qualified teacher.
5) Some people use a candle, if I may suggest that the candle is behind you and out of visual range so that you get the benefit of the flickering light without the distraction of the naked flame.
Advanced ↟↟
Once you have established your Yantra Meditation to the point that you are able to "flow in and flow out" of the Yantra image, the next level up is to visualize your entire body turning into pure light and then flowing into the Yantra image.
Your focus here should be to attain the "Mind Of No Mind" state which is devoid of all thoughts.
Shuckling
Shuckling means to rock backwards and forwards (like you see Jews do at the Wailing Wall when praying).
When you are staring at the Yantra image, start Shuckling and you may notice that your mind starts to create a faster and deeper 3D response to the image.
This is good.
This "Shuckling" should be done gently and slowly - not like you see at the Wailing Wall which is usually highly energetic.
**** Saying a "mantra" helps calm down the "Monkey Mind".
Method Two - The Silent Method↟↟
This is the silent method.
Exactly the same as the first method, but this time, you repeat your mantra silently.
Remember that you need to focus your thoughts on something specific.
What Is A Bindu?
Most people have seen in real life or on TV (Movies etc) Indian women with the red dot - just above and between their eyes.

This red dot is called a "Bindi". (bin'dee)
This word "Bindi" (nothing to do with the Australian version of the word bindi (Soliva sessilis) or the beautiful Bindi Irwinses flower either) is derived from the Sanskrit word BINDU. (in case you were wondering)
BINDU refers to an abstract spiritual or metaphysical concept of a point or dot.
Zen
This "dot" (Bindu / Bindi) is one of the fundamental principals of Zen where the "Dot" represents the source of wisdom and (Zen) meditation is a path to unlocking this wisdom.
Remember that this is a representation only and that the "dot" you see is in reality, intangible on a physical level.
However, on a spiritual level, your soul can "touch" or connect with it - but only if your soul is 101% "Still".
 | Remember that this is a representation only and that the "dot" you see is in reality intangible on a physical level. | |
In Kabbalah, Chochmah from the "10 Sephirot". represents wisdom and Binah (the next Sephirah) - which represents Understanding - is the meditative path (Hitbodedut a form of Jewish meditation) you use to extract this wisdom but then you need the attribute of Da'at (Knowledge) to complete the circle.
In other words, you cannot have "Knowledge" without "Understanding", but you need a pure source of "Wisdom" if you want to become smarter.
Zen is a way of revealing the complexities of many of these paths to understanding wisdom which is not as straight forward as most people are misled** to believe.
**Eg: You cannot become a Jedi master by cutting a rock in half with a light saber.
The word "Zen" originates from the Sanskrit word dhyāna (Diana / Dhyana), meaning "meditation" or "meditative state".
Intermediate: The practice was carried from India to China, where it was called Chan (禅), it next travelled to Korea where it was renamed as SEON, after which it migrated to Japan, where it was pronounced (renamed as) "SEN".
It is called "Thiền" in Vietnamese (in case you were wondering).
It is kind of like dancing with 4 sisters and then not remembering who is who.
In Japanese the word SEN is anglicized as ZEN. (SEN is the same as 1,000 in Japanese)
Interestingly, the "bindi" is placed in the location of the "third eye" which allows you to see the spiritual or metaphysical.
Once you are proficient at using the BINDU in the Yantra Meditation method, then any "dot" may be used (as your Yantra focus point) so long as you are able to disassociate from your surrounding environment.
The Yantra Bindu ↟↟
At the center of the Yantra image is a point called The Bindu.
Sometimes this is a small triangle but usually it is a dot within the smallest triangle.
This is your primary focus point.
This Bindu (dot) represents the "seed of creation" or the point from which everything came.
The triangles represent a way of expanding your mind "out" from the "dot". Kind of like a Horizontal Yo-Yo effect where your mind is going IN and OUT at the same time.
Once you are able to master and control the In and Out visualizations, then you use this to bring your focus to the dot and then take this further down to infinity.
While this may seem simple enough, the "journey" is usually very "bumpy" for those who proceed too fast.
This is because of what you believe verses what is the truth and in most cases, they are diametrically opposed apart from a few shadown.
The Truth is The Truth and not what many people and religions have concocted it to be.
This will be your greatest challenge and the key to your success will be your own personal honesty.
This is not an easy method to master.
It is only by focusing on this "Bindu" that you can bring your mind to the point before existence itself.
Quick Side Note ↟↟
Regression Hypnosis
One of the "jobs" I had was as a Regression Hypnotherapist.
Regression Hypnosis allowed me (in most cases) to take people back to the moment they were born, then back to conception and then even earlier to the time they died in a previous life.
These Regressions are a lot more complicated than I am going to write here but they mostly had 1 interesting commonality.
It was the "Cross Over" point from this life to the previous life.
When I asked them (afterwards) the most interesting part of the experience, most said that this "cross over point" would have to be the most interesting because it was at this point that they realized how unsubstantial physicality was.
The most interesting description I got from one person was that they felt their crossover was like "Earth, Water, Air".
It is said that by focusing on the Bindu - with the "PreCog" goal of reaching nothingness, that many are actually able to attain this level.
SGPS
In other words "pre-program" your destination into your soul's computer navigation system (SGPS) in order to subconsciously get to your destination.
SGPS == Soul's Global Positioning SYstem.
For most people, this will take many years of study and advanced meditation in order to reach a balanced enough mind in order to absorb the goal of nothingness.
The Mandukya Upanishad says that in deep sleep, the "self" merges into pure consciousness.
Pure consciousnessImagine that "The Internet" represents all of the knowledge of creation contained therein.
Now think in terms of the highest level connection to this internet "backbone" is a Tier 1 connection. (your soul)
Pure consciousness may be likened to a Tier 1 connection to the universe itself.
Connecting with "Pure Consciousness" bypasses all of the dis-information the army of "wolf warriors" has infected your mind with over your lifetime.
It also bypasses your critical and analytical thinking processes and allows you the potential of being in the place where the answer comes before the question.
And yes, this place does exist as many people who have had an "NDE" may attest to and I myself have often had this experience so I personally know that it is real.
Pure example only.
This deep sleep is a euphemism for (1) death (2) super advanced meditation (3) hypnotic regression***.
*** Please note that past-life hypnotic regression by an untrained hypnotherapist may be detrimental to your wellbeing because most have their own views, ideology and beliefs which will conflict with many things "on the other side".
Your conscious mind is a locked door which blocks you from advancing to the next level until you have certain knowledge.
But you still need the 3 "passwords" in order to transcend further.
They are Love, Truth and Charity.
Without these 3 "passwords" you will travel in circles.
One other point
When you focus on the Bindu, you must be prepared to "surrender" yourself to The Creator - so if you are a control freak, or dishonest, then your experiences will end very badly.
Surrender neabs releasing all ego, arrogance, pride etc and all material thoughts and desires.
Material thoughts and desires are useless after you take away physicality.
Yantra Images
Select one of these images to focus on.
After you have been looking at the Bindu for a long time, it may become apparent to you that this is an expanded view of the Heart Chakra.
I will not explain more at this time in case I impede you from having other realizations which go with that last comment.

Nada Bindu
In case you are looking for a mantra with a purpose while doing this Yantra Meditation.
Nada means "sound" (not the Spanish version) and Bindu means "point".
The "Nada Bindu" represents the point of sound at the point of creation.
This sound is called OM. Did you know that there is a secret to saying the "OM Mantra"?
The Nada Bindu is described in the "NadaBindu Upanishad" as a method of meditation which focuses on internal sound and this is in a effort to reach the state of "Mind Of No Mind" so that your thoughts evaporate as you achieve a union with The Creator, some refer to as the "supreme consciousness".
The Connection? ↟↟
If you do the visualization exercises and chant OM at the same time, this will help you expand your mind so that the following will make sense.
To go UP you must first go Down and to go OUT, you must first go IN.
While you are doing this meditation you need to Focus on the sounds within you.
This is where the OM comes in handy as it helps synchronize your "vibration".
You should continue with the OM mantra until you can feel your entire body vibrating in harmony.
The loudest of these sounds is called The Silence.
When you reach this point, then you are at the beginning of your journey.
Advanced
As you become more advanced, consider adding this to your meditation.
Shiva and Shakti
Shiva represents the male energy and Shakti represents the female energy.
This can be visualized as Sky "Chi" and Earth "Chi".
You merge these together by visualizing the sky energy coming DOWN through your crown chakra and merging with the Earth energy coming UP from your base "Chakra". .
WARNING
Be careful what you wish for.
If you break your focus, then you will lose your "spot" and have to start again.
