Firstly, the word "Dod" means uncle in Hebrew and Dodi is usually associated with "My Uncle" but as there often is with Hebrew there is more than one meaning to a word. Dodi or Dod'ee (doh'dee) is an older form of endearment. Usually associated with or meaning "My Beloved" which is the most common translation I have read, where the Yod on the end gives it a possessive meaning.
