Top Tinctures Benefits

Tinctures offer you Rapid Absorption & High Bioavailability of important plant medicinal constituents which are beneficial to your health - in most cases.

Stem Cells ↟↟

I have long held the "theory" that part of the way that plants heal is by stimulating stem cell production within the body - but these are specific stem cells which target specific parts of the body (or ailment).

When you tincture most medicinal herbs, plants, spices etc, then you are giving your body immediate access to most of the beneficial nutrients that your body needs to stimulate the production of these specific stem cells into the required body parts.

My theory has become scientific fact these days. + + + + + +

Anecdotal story.

In 2023 I was diagnosed with diabetes (short story) and ended up with nerve damage in my toes (which is quite common I have been told).

I tried various "methods" of healing my damaged nerves before finally trying what I had read many years ago that 100% COCOA was known to help regenerate damaged nerves.

The short story is that the pain in my toes decreased by around 95% in 3 months and I continued to take 10 Grams of 100% Cocoa powder a day until healed - which took over 6 months for complete recovery.

Be warned that most commercial chocolates contains sugar and this is not good for you.

(I have read) that you should also NOT take more than 20 Grams of Cocoa (Chocolate) a day if you are prone to constipation. 1 teaspoon of Epsom salts or a teaspoon of Bran or 3 inches (7cms) of Daikon [radish] a day - will be good for you if you do have that problem.

Please Note The Following ↟↟

Please note the following alcohol percentages and their other commonly designated name, "Proof".

ABV == Alcohol By Volume.

  • 40% ABV == (80 proof)
  • 50% ABV == (100 proof)
  • 90% ABV == (180 proof)
  • 100% ABV == (200 proof)
BTW: If your doctor says that herbal medicine is fake, ask them "Do they eat food"?

Then ask them: "do they eat plants or plastic"?

When you make your own Tinctures, you can make them with a Higher Potency compared to store bought tinctures which are often diluted from 10:1 and even as low as 20:1.

Higher Potency means higher benefits.

The maximum ration you should be looking at is 5:1 (5x alcohol and 1x herb).

Kids

Plus you can easily dilute the dosage down for children (or adults) by using a "Dropper" (eyedropper) and a half glass of water or juice.

BTW, if you are worried about alcohol and your kids or for religious reasons or you are doing A.A. - then please check out the Remove Alcohol Remove Alcohol section below.

Please use glass bottles to avoid getting Micro-plastics in your cells. You can now Micro-plastics.

Customize your dosages to suit you. Some tinctures like Lion's Mane, Lavender and Rosemary are very strong and need to be adjusted to personal ingestion capabilities.

Always do a skin patch test before you ingest any herb - and if you do not know what that is - ask your wife or girlfriend.

First Warning ↟↟

Do Not over complicate making tinctures. They are very easy to make and IF you find someone who is touting "Scientific Method" this or that, please find another teacher.

The "Folk Method" is all you need to 99% of your tincture needs.

There are 5 basic rules.

  1. Use 40% ABV (80 proof) for dry or dehydrated plants.
  2. Use 55% - 65% for green (fresh) plants.
  3. Avoid succulents if possible otherwise use 90%+ ABV for succulents.
  4. Keep the lid on tight to avoid alcohol evaporation.
  5. Label everything, see Bottles And Labels below.

Scientific Method and lack of evidence.

Plus not one of the people I have encountered touting the Scientific Method has shown me ANY credible evidence of "actual" completed studies where the Scientific formulas Method beats the Folk Method.

I have seen lots of spreadsheet data but NO proof that it is genuinely sourced from actual studies.

However, like I said, the Folk Method will do 99% of your tincture needs.

Personal observation: Almost everyone I have encountered both online and offline - who promotes the Scientific Method - has been very arrogant.

Top Wildcrafting Plants

Wildcrafting means gathering plants from the bush - in other words, NOT buying them online or is a store.

Best Time To Harvest (gather) Plants ↟↟

For most plants, where you are harvesting the "above ground" parts, the best time is just before the plant flowers because this is when the plant has the most nutrients available.

However, when harvesting ROOT plants, especially in colder areas and even more especially when above the snow line, there is a better time to harvest these. It is called Late Harvesting.

Late Harvesting ↟↟

There are many plants that you can harvest and dehydrate in late Autumn (Fall) and early Winter.

This is because the plants send most - if not all - of their "goodness" down into their root system to wait out the cold (and snow).

Some plants completely die off above ground in Winter but their medicinal nutrients are safely stored below ground. (Safely until I come along - that is)

Some examples of medicinal roots with Botanical Names.

Top Equipment You Will Need

1) Wide mouthed sealable glass container. (When I cannot get the right glass containers, I personally use which is not PET plastic.)

2) The specific herb you want to tincture.

3) 1 or 2 bottles of 750ml of 40 % ABV vodka (anything with 40% plus is just as good).

4) Labels + Pen

5) Time (unless you use powders)

6) 1 or 2 ounce (30 - 60ml) Dropper Bottles () or if you are making a lot, perhaps () bottles?

** I have included (120ml - ) and (240 ml - ) links below.

7) Some coffee filters to strain off the liquid. Remember that the white filter paper is bleached white

Most white paper is bleached using chemicals like chlorine dioxide, hydrogen peroxide, and oxygen. None of these will hurt you in small doses but you SHOULD CHECK the process of the specific brand you want to use before you buy it.

NOTE:

The stainless steel "CONE" is the "sieve" into which you place the "Single Cone" paper filter - you need both.

Top Optional Equipment

  1. HydrometerHydrometer
  2. Hydrometer Measuring CylinderHydrometer Measuring Cylinder

Hydrometer

If you are making larger batches - especially for commercial selling - you need to check the alcohol content before bottling (for legal reasons).

So you will need a Specific Gravity Hydrometer to do this.

I would suggest that you invested in a "better quality" Hydrometer to start with.

Measuring Cylinder

You will need a specific (and dedicated) container to pour your tincture into so that you can use the Hydrometer.

This is called a "Measuring Cylinder".

Dosages ↟↟

These are general Dosages * (Adults only) as recommended to me by my (ND) Naturopath.

* Seek advice from a Naturopath before taking any supplement (DO NOT see a regular doctor as they have NO Training in herbal medicine - only oil based plastic medicine).

Chaste Tree ↟↟

Suggested Dosage

* 10 - 20 drops a day for 2 - 3 months.

Maintenance

Take with water.

5 - 10 drops a day

Benefits

Chaste Tree (berries) help remove synthetic hormones that you get from PET plastics and "hormone injected" meats.

Tinctured Chaste Tree (berries) help reduce mood swings and detoxes endocrine disruptors like BPA.

Especially brilliant for breast feeding moms.

Licorice Root ↟↟

Suggested Dosage

IF you do not drink alcohol, then 1 teaspoon TWICE a day for 3 - 6 months.

Remove De-Alcohol De-Alcohol the alcohol for younger folk.

If you do drink alcohol.

  1. 0 - 15 (age) Take 1 - 2 mls twice a day for 1 month
  2. 15 - 20 Take 5 mls twice a day for 2 months
  3. 21 - 30 Take 5 mls twice a day for 3 months
  4. 31 - 40 Take 5 mls twice a day for 3 months
  5. 41 - 50 Take 10 mls twice a day for 3 months
  6. Over 50 Take 10 - 20 mls twice a day for 3 months

TIP: Also take 1 Chlorella tablet 4 - 6 times a day as this helps absorb heavy metals and synthetics so that they pass out of your body and do not re-infest.

Research indicates that Chlorella (specifically Chlorella vulgaris) has the ability to absorb, bioaccumulate, and biodegrade synthetic hormones and environmental contaminants.

Studies have shown it to be effective in removing steroid hormones, such as Testosterone and Ethinylestradiol (a synthetic estrogen), from aquatic environments, with removal rates for some compounds exceeding 80%. + + + +

Maintenance

Take with water.

Take 5 mls a day for 5 or 6 days a week.

Benefits

Licorice Root is well known in Herbalist circles to help heal Liver Damage caused by alcohol and pain killers.

Licorice Root works even better when you also take Milk Thistle seed tincture (Glutathione) as well.

*** NOTE that all of the negative information you read online is pure BS. Most of Western Europe consumes Licorice daily (usually Salted) and the plague the medical "industry" talks about is non-existent.

Their original scare mongering was based on a 57 Yr old Swedish guy who (they claimed) died from lack of potassium (and yet the medical industry claims that we can ONLY take 90mgs of potassium a day when the RDI (RDA) is 2,600 mg for women and 3,400mg for men) so please do the math on the truth.

I have taken Licorice Root for decades and (for insurance reasons) my last medical, the doctor again complimented me on the health of my liver and kidneys. (despite them literally poisoning me for the CT scan so badly I ended up in hospital for almost 2 weeks.)

Milk Thistle (Seeds) ↟↟

Suggested Dosage

5mls TWICE a day for 4 - 6 weeks.

Maintenance

Take with water.

Under 30 - 1 - 3 mls a day before bed

Over 30 - 5 mls a day before bed

Benefits

Milk Thistle (Seeds) produces Glutathione which is critical for good health and new research shows that when takes with Glycine, is even more potent as a healer.

Check out this Glutathione + NAC for cognitive health. BTW: NAC is a precursor to Glutathione.

Stinging Nettle (Root) ↟↟

Suggested Dosage

5mls TWICE a day for 2 - 3 weeks.

Maintenance

Take with water.

5mls a day

Benefits

Great for men and women who have trouble peeing.

Especially good for men with swollen prostate issues.

BTW

You can also steam the leaves and stems and eat them and the Stinging Nettle Seeds are "adaptogenic".

Lion's Mane ↟↟

Suggested Dosage

DO NOT TAKE 7 DAYS A WEEK as this often overloads people and they "sometimes" get headaches.

5 mls a day (6 days a week) for the first 2 - 6 weeks.

Maintenance

Take with water.

5 - 10 drops a day (*5 days a week)

Benefits

Helps improve memory and I used this as part of my recovery regime when I had severe brain damage in 2023.

WARNING

With my "other" herbs, I mix equal amounts of each herb (after tincturing).

Except Rosemary

Rosemary is very strong.

I mix Lion's Mane and Rosemary at 10:1 (10 Lion's Mane and 1 Rosemary) because of the potency of the Rosemary.

Build A Better Brain Ingredients.

This is a list of herbs + that I used to rebuild () my brain after suffering a fatal head injury in 2023 (I actually died).

Rosemary ↟↟

Suggested Dosage

1 drop a day 5 - 6 days a week.

Maintenance

Take with water.

1 drop a day 5 - 6 days a week.

Benefits

Great for improving memory but this is very potent.

WARNING

With my "other" herbs, I mix equal amounts of each herb (after tincturing).

Except Rosemary

Rosemary is very strong.

I mix Lion's Mane and Rosemary at 20:1 (20 Lion's Mane and 1 Rosemary) because of the potency of the Rosemary.

Brahmi ↟↟

Suggested Dosage

5 mls TWICE a day for 4 - 6 weeks.

Maintenance

Take with water.

2 - 3 mls a day after that.

Benefits

Improves cognition and is well known in Ayuvedic medicine for exactly this purpose.

Gymnema ↟↟

Suggested Dosage

5 - 20 mls before (or immediately after) a meal where carbs are involved.

Maintenance

Take with water.

5 - 20 mls before (or immediately after) a meal where carbs are involved.

Benefits

Helps naturally stimulate SMALL AMOUNTS OF insulin.

WARNING

Gymnema IS NOT A WONDER HERB OR DRUG.

DO NOT think that because you took some Gymnema that you can eat whatever you want -- despite some dishonest doctors claiming otherwise.

Artemisia (Stems and Leaves) ↟↟

Suggested Dosage

Tincture or Tea.

Maintenance

Take Tincture with water.

Tincture: 20 - 40mls a day when flu season in happening.

Tea: 2 - 4 cups of leaves AND STEMS a day during flu season.

Benefits

Helps reduce flu infections.

Helps impede and stop Malaria infections.

If you are in a Malaria area, please also increase your IRON intake (Heme iron is best).

Artemisia (Stems and Leaves) as a tea or tincture is also reportedly beneficial for psychics and is highly promoted for people learning "Remote Viewing" classes.

Artemisia (White Root) ↟↟

Suggested Dosage

5 mls a day (once or twice a day as needed)

Maintenance

Take with water.

5 mls a day (once or twice a day as needed)

Harvesting

You harvest this root just before winter sets in because the plant sends all of its nutrients below ground to "overwinter".

These white roots (1/8th - 1/4 inch or 3-5mm) thick are very potent with the important nutrients that the Artemisia needs.

Benefits

Good for general health and see previous section.

Highly beneficial for psychics and is highly promoted for people learning "Remote Viewing" classes.

Mullein (Leaf) ↟↟

Suggested Dosage

5 - 20mls as needed during the day.

Maintenance

Take with water.

5 - 20mls as needed during the day.

Benefits

Breaks up mucus and is a natural decongestant "especially" when you add the Elecampane herb as well.

Elecampane IS VERY POTENT so I mix mine at 10:1.

10 Mullein to 1 Elecampane.

Elecampane ↟↟

Suggested Dosage

Depending on age: 1 - 10 drops if taken on its own - as required.

If you mix with Mullein at 20:1, then take 5 - 20mls as needed during the day. This is a lot more palatable as well.

95mls Mullein to 5mls Elecampane.

If that is not strong enough, then mix at 10:1. (90mls Mullein to 10mls Elecampane)

For kids, you can also add 30% Peppermint or Licorice root for a better taste..

Maintenance

Take with water.

1 - 10 drops if taken on its own - as required.

Benefits

* == VERY POTENT

Breaks up mucus and is a natural decongestant "especially" when you add the Mullein herb leaf as well.

Elecampane IS VERY POTENT so I mix mine at 5:1.

5 Mullein to 1 Elecampane.

Ginkgo Biloba ↟↟

WARNING

Ginkgo Biloba is a blood thinner and should NOT BE TAKEN if you are taking blood thinning medications or if you have Haemophilia (hemophilia).

Suggested Dosage

3 - 5 (total) drops with Lions Mane, or Rosemary or Brahmi.

Diabetes Feet (poor circulation and pain)?

3 - 5 mls twice a day and also take Nitric Oxide (L-Arginine + L-Citrulline) mix together and take 1 teaspoon early AM and again before bed.

Maintenance

Take with water.

3 - 5 (total) drops a day.

Benefits

Blood thinner and helps blood circulation especially when taken with Nitric Oxide precursors (L-Arginine + L-Citrulline)

WARNING

Ginkgo Biloba is a blood thinner and should NOT BE TAKEN if you are taking blood thinning medications or if you have Haemophilia (hemophilia).

Ginkgo Biloba Seeds

Many sources claim that Ginkgo Biloba Seeds are deadly and should NOT be ingested for any reason.

Some say yes and some say no.

I do not know and I avoid the round seeds and I suggest that you do as well.

Regardless of what you read online.

Japanese Knotweed Root ↟↟

Most people know that Resveratrol is good for your heart but what most people do not know is that your body has to first convert Resveratrol into Trans-Resveratrol before it can be absorbed.

Japanese Knotweed Root is naturally high in Trans-Resveratrol which means that your body can absorb the Trans-Resveratrol much faster.

Top My Top Root Tinctures

There are many and varied medicinal plant roots which are beneficial to a lot of people, however, there is a secret to Harvesting medicinal plant roots medicinal plant roots you may like to read first.

Many plant roots need to be cut up when still fresh or else they turn into wood.

Many but not all, some are actually very fine powder which makes it easier and faster to get the benefits.

  1. Dandelion medicinal benefits Dandelion medicinal benefits
  2. Japanese Knotweed Root Japanese Knotweed Root
  3. Nettle Root Nettle Root medicinal benefits
  4. Licorice Root Licorice Root medicinal benefits
Dandelion Root (Taraxacum officinale)

Liver support (tonic), linked to Potential properties, linked to Blood sugar management.

Plus you can eat the whole plant and the older (bitter) leaves are great as a digestive aid.

Tincture

Pick young roots and slice into very thin strips while still fresh. Then dehydrate and tincture as a solid.

Leave for 6 - 8 weeks before using and even 3 - 4 months is better.

Dosage:

5 mls a day. (1 teaspoon)

More

Japanese Knotweed Root (Reynoutria japonica)

Most people these days have heard of the natural antioxidant compound called Resveratrol and how it is good for your heart etc.

Did you know that your body needs to convert Resveratrol into Trans-Resveratrol to be able to best utilize this antioxidant?

However, Japanese Knotweed Root is already in the natural form of Trans-Resveratrol so your body can "uptake" the Trans-Resveratrol immediately.

WARNING

This plant is classified as a weed in many countries, so if you are going to grow it, please check Local and State Governments for their ordinances regarding Japanese Knotweed.

TIP: Grow these in a large loose soil container with lots of compost so that it is much easier to harvest the entire root.

You can also stir fry the plant UNTIL it reaches 8 inches (20cms) tall because after that it turns to wood (like its cousin, bamboo).

Tincture

Pick young roots and slice into very thin strips while still fresh. Then dehydrate and tincture as a solid.

Leave for 6 - 8 weeks before using and even 3 - 4 months is better.

Dosage:

5 mls a day. (1 teaspoon)

More

Stinging Nettle Root (Urtica dioica)

Nettle Root is probably best known in herbalist circles as a great assist for older people being able to pee better, this includes both men and women - but especially men with prostate issues and for those getting up 10 - 20 times a night.

Tincture

Nettle Roots are very fibrous and you may need a "stainless steel" hacksaw to cut these into very thin strips while still fresh. Then dehydrate and tincture as a solid.

Keep the powder from cutting as well. I use this powder to make a smaller "batch" which I can start using in a few days as a quick fix.

I also add licorice root to mine @ (1:4) - so the Nettle root (is 4 parts and the Licorice root is 1 part) for a nicer taste.

If you wait until the roots are dry, then they basically turn into wood and are virtually impossible to cut up unless you use a hacksaw.

Leave sit for at least 8 - 12 weeks before using and even 4 months is better.

Dosage:

20 mls a day. (1 Tablespoon)

More

Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza glabra)

Licorice Root I have covered above and this is brilliant to help heal your liver, especially if you have alcohol or painkiller damage.

Tincture

Mix at %:1 (5 alcohol @ 40% ABV and 1 part herb)

Licorice Root is fine powder so anything after 24 hours is able to be used.

Dosage

5mls a day after evening meal. Let your body heal while you sleep.

Top Fresh Or Dry Plants Alcohol ABV?

My personal choice is to use dry plants, herbs or spices.

I firstly wash any "wild crafted" plants in cold soapy water, then I rinse several times in cold water.

NEVER use hot water to wash or rinse as it will leach the nutrients out of the plant (like tea leaves).

For example: I just collected a few shopping bags of Ginkgo Biloba (Ginkgo Biloba) leaves. I tediously washed them and rinsed them individually to remove insects and car fumes.

Then I put them is some drying trays I have and stacked these up - one on top of each other.

On top of that I put several boxes of bottled water (6 x 2 liter bottles) and left over night - to press the excess water out.

The next day I put these leaves into several "large" clothes washing bags (for better ventilation) and then I hang these inside my custom built drying box (36"x18"x18" - 90cm x 18cm x 18cm) which has a hole in the bottom on one side and a venting hole on the top of the other side to let air flow through and carry out the moisture.

I suspend this stainless steel box on top of our FULLY enclosed ($1,000++) child proof (non-radiant) floor heater system and let the warm air flow up into the box.

I should note that the air flowing out of this heater is minimal and not like a normal "radiant" heater as our system is primarily set up for floor heating.

Radiant heaters will be too powerful and burn the leaves etc with an increased risk of fire.

However, you can set up a floor fan and to blow the air from the front of the radiant heater to the dehydrating box BUT this fan must be at least 2 feet (60cms) away from the front of the heater to avoid blowing air that is too hot and which may cause spontaneous combustion of the plants.

DO NOT "duct" the top of the heater to the dehydrating box because again, the air will be too dry and too hot and dramatically increase your risk of fire.

Please use common sense.

The reason that we do not use radiant heating is because when you dry the air out too much it plays havoc with your sinuses - so floor heating overcomes this problem (for us).

I turn the leaves over every day and in about 1 week, they are completely dehydrated.

Apart from getting the stainless steel box built, and since we are running the enclosed internal heater anyway, this costs me nothing.

In Spring and Summer, I use an electric fan so then there is an electricity cost - but again, the size of the box allows me to place multiple bags of herbs inside to dehydrate.

Why Do I Do This? ↟↟

I dehydrate my leaves etc because this way I know the exact amount of alcohol to add to the plant material and that is 40% ABV.

There is no ambiguity or confusion.

And the end product always turns out the exact same. Perfect (IMO).

How Do I Use This? ↟↟

Once the leaves are dry, I pop some of the leaves in my blender and then add some vodka and blend.

I do this because the smaller the plant material I am tincturing, the greater the surface area for the alcohol to come in contact with, and thus the faster the alcohol can extract the beneficial constituents.

I then pour this into a glass container or (wide mouth) HDPE container HDPE container and let it steep for a minimum of 24 hours.

IF I need some urgently, and because it is blended up - I can decant (strain off) some liquid (in 12 - 24 hours) and filter it through paper coffee filters coffee filters and have access to the Tincture within several minutes after decanting.

TIP ↟↟

Binomial nomenclature.

Always (always) use the correct "Binomial Nomenclature" which is commonly referred to as the "scientific name" also called "Latin name" and also called the "Botanical name" - .

Why is this important?

This is important because many people use their "local plant names" and these are often completely different from the true name of the herb or plant.

Example 1: is actually a banana and yet people often use the name Plantain when referring to the "Plantago" plant.

Varieties includes broadleaf plantain (Plantago major) and narrowleaf plantain (Plantago lanceolata) - both of which are medicinal.

Example 2: Marigold

Marigold is often mis-named and the original plant that was and is known as "true marigold" was the and is also known as the pot marigold or Mary's gold.

However, these days.

The term "marigold" is a confusing common name that is now applied to several different and often botanically unrelated plants.

Deadly Look Alikes ↟↟

It is VERY Important that you are aware of the following information about plants.

Sometimes referred to as "Vavilovian mimicry", this is where some plants evolve to look similar to other plants but often the "mimic" plant is toxic and sometimes deadly. +

Here are some

For example, "Spurge" (Euphorbia [milky white sap]) can be mistaken for several plants, but most commonly "Purslane" (Portulaca oleracea) and "Prostrate Knotweed" (Polygonum aviculare) and Spurge can be harmful and even deadly if ingested.

Click to see Purslane image Purslane

Where as Purslane (Portulaca oleracea) has a high - including vitamin A - and other vitamins and is one of my personally favorites from my early childhood in the orphanage where we were often fed gruel like meals.

BTW: Purslane is a succulent and this means that it has a high water content so it may be best for this plant to be washed, chilled and eaten in your salad (which I do) instead of tincturing it because you would need an alcohol content way above 60% ABV - that is unless you dehydrate the plant first.

Succulents ↟↟

like Aloe Vera, Artichoke, Ginger, Turmeric and many others should be dehydrated before tincturing or else you will need to pay a lot more money to buy 90%+ ABV alcohol.

Top Folk Method With Powder

This is very important.

Not all "powders" absorb liquids the same.

Powdered tree roots or bark will be much more fibrous than powdered (example) Artemisia (aka: wormwood / mugwort / sagebrush / yomogi) leaves or Licorice root or tree leaves like Ginkgo Biloba leaves.

Artemisia (family Asteraceae) has almost almost species and over 2,700 varieties (some unchecked) according to .

This is why getting the Botanical Name is important.

The Botanical Name is also referred to as the:

  1. Latin Name
  2. Binomial Name
  3. Scientific Name
  4. Botanical Name

Some plant roots do become fine absorbent powder - BUT NOT ALL of them do this.

Fibrous powder, fibrous plant material (like Nettle roots and others) will take much longer to release the medicinal constituents as well - so please take note of this.

I am repeating this because one of the many questions I have been asked about the "process" is "How can I get a tincture from some plants within 1 week but I need to wait up to 2 months for others?".

Note: The smaller the plant material used, the greater the surfact contact area for the liquid and the faster it will extract the beneficial constituents.

REMEMBER

Most plants have a "General Common Name" and may also have 1 or more local common names. Here is a brilliant page listing many multi-named plants in and around the () + other () in your country you can contact.

How To Make ↟↟

You will need:

  1. 100 grams of powdered or dehydrated plant
  2. 1 or 2 bottles of 40% ABV (80 proof) Vodka
  3. Sealable glass container
  4. See other items above See other items above

Method

First add 1 bottle of Vodka to your container, then...

"Slowly" add 100 grams of powder to the container - add slowly so that it does not clump up (glom).

Write out your label and include the following.

  1. Common name
  2. Botanical name
  3. Specific ailment it treats
  4. Date made
  5. Alcohol content

For example:

  1. Milk thistle seeds
  2. Silybum marianum
  3. Liver detoxer
  4. 2026-Jul-06 **
  5. 40% ABV

** If you write the date like this, then ANYONE who reads it will understand compared to the US dates M-D-Y or most other countries D-M-Y and Japan / Y-M-D.

Y-M-D (Year Month Day) format is also used by Japan, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hungary, Mongolia, Lithuania, Bhutan.

Y-M-D is also commonly used in India, Russia, Vietnam, Germany, Iran, United Kingdom, France, Myanmar, Spain, Poland, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Cameroon, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore.

Just in case you make a tincture and give it to someone who came from another country.

Shelf Life ↟↟

If you are opening the tincture every day or even once a week, the alcohol will evaporate so your maximum Shelf Life time should be around 2 years.

However, if you have made the tincture and it has been sealed and never opened, I have used tinctures which are up to 5 years old @ 40% ABV.

Plan B

If I want to make something and I want it to last even longer, I will typically make 4 liters (8.8 pints) and add 1 bottle of 500 mls @ 96% ABV alcohol to boost the alcohol content and this helps preserve the contents much longer (up to 10 years).

Filtering ↟↟

With powder, you can syphon off (decant) a small amount which will last you several weeks and what I do is I filter this through "Paper Towel first to remove the bigger pieces.

Then I filter through a regular coffee filter (often I need to use several if the powder is very fine), and then I pour into my main labeled container.

Storage ↟↟

Store in a cool place away from sunlight.

Cover with a dark material if needed.

Remember, the warmer the location, the faster the alcohol will evaporate every time you open the bottle.

VERY IMPORTANT ↟↟

Research the specific herb you want to use for personal use or for your family.

I have often seen people in groups asking others what they recommend and very rarely do the respondents put the medicinal benefits. They just list what they use.

WRITE a list of ailments your family has, then RESEARCH the best herbs etc for these specific ailments.

Top Folk Method With Solids

If you are doing leaves and small stems, then you need to soak in alcohol for at least 4 - 8 weeks.

If you are tincturing roots and bark, then 6 - 13 weeks will be required and in fact, the longer the better.

For example, my Nettle Root tincture is off colored after 1 week, but turns almost black after 3 - 4 months.

Roots and Bark TIP:

Break these up into the smallest pieces you can so that you have a much greater surface contact area.

Strain and filter and bottle as described in previous section.

Top Scientific Method

It should first be noted that there are 2 types of the "Scientific Method" associated with Tincture making.

Observational Scientific Method ↟↟

The first version is where you have someone "observing" results pertaining to a subject (patient) taking the specific Tincture.

First version example may be where someone scientifically observes a goiter decreasing after the "patient" took a tincture made from seaweed (like Kombu) which has a high Iodine content.

The seaweeds with the highest Iodine content are (1) Kombu (2) Wakame (3) Bladderwrack/Rockweed. + +

Seaweed Warning

While most seaweeds contain small amounts of Iodine, some (mentioned above) can contain a significant amount.

While Hypothyroidism (Hashimotos or low iodine) is the most common cause of associated illnesses, conversely too much iodine can cause problems as well.

Too much iodine can cause hyperthyroidism or thyroid dysfunction, with dried kelp reaching up to (180,000 mcg) of iodine per (100g).

(180,000 mcg) (mcg == micrograms) is a measurement of mass equal to 180 milligrams (mg) or 0.18 grams (g).

Nori (flat green seaweed used in sushi) generally has lower, more moderate iodine levels compared to brown seaweeds.

Excessively boiling the seaweed may cause most, if not all, of the iodine to evaporate as it is very sensitive to heat.

Alcohol ABV Based Scientific Method ↟↟

The second version is where you make a tincture using a specific Alcohol Volume per specific plant.

Second version example applies to using alcohol ranging from 40% ABV up to 100% ABV for each individual plant.

Unless you have scientifically proven studies showing different potency levels - which should also include ABV and Time and Herb to alcohol ratio - then I suggest that you dehydrate*** your green plants and then just use the Folk Method Folk Method (above).

*** With the exception of specific herbs (plants) like Milky Oats which should be tinctured while still green (fresh) as the white liquid sap has the most potent healing parts.

Milky Oats (Avena sativa) are the fresh, unripe seed tops of the oat plant which are harvested during a brief window when they secrete a milky white sap.

Milky Oats are known as a potent nerve tonic and are often used in herbal medicine to help restore damaged nervous systems and support relaxation.

Tincture Milky Oats when the plant is still "fresh" (green and not dehydrated).

Scientific Method Spreadsheets

I have seen lots of spread sheets detailing X% of alcohol to XYZ specific herb but I have not seen the studies. Just something that ANYONE could publish if they had 30 minutes to waste.

This is my personal opinion - do not waste your time on this Scientific Method business - unless you have the equipment to test the potency of each herb, spice or plant with varying percentages of alcohol and over different timelines.

You would also need to do numerous powder tests based on age of the plant () plus oxidation of powder and then retest using various sizes of solids (for example the plant "material" cut into various millimeter sized slices + soak times) + other parameters such as various ABV percentage ratios.

Then anyone using that specific formula would have to match the prescribed conditions precisely.

Top Dosages * (Adults only)

* I do not give child dosages on this page.

Always research the potency of each herb, spice or plant before taking ANYTHING.

Top Bottles And Labels

Try and use glass bottles if you can and if you cannot, then NEVER use PET plastic.

Only use PE or HDPE plastic if you need to use plastics at all.

Labels

Always label your Tinctures, Name, Botanical Name, Date made, Alcohol content, Medicinal Use.

Adding the Medicinal Use is very important for when you need this product at a later date.

Top Remove Alcohol (De-Alcohol)

I would like to point out that I am NOT a fan of alcohol, in fact, I was taught that people who waste there money on alcohol, cigarettes and drugs are lower level souls.

I personally avoid people who indulge in these physical vices

If you are taking small doses of less than 10 mls a day, simply pour into a clean glass and leave with a cloth covering the glass for 24 - 48 hours in 25C (75F) and the alcohol will evaporate.

Alternatively you can add 1 teaspoon to a full glass of clean water which will dilute the alcohol.

If you are doing more than 20mls, I suggest that you use multiple glass cups to do the same thing.

DO NOT BOIL

I have seen some videos of very low IQ people saying to boil off the alcohol, this is possibly one of the dumbest things I have ever heard.

Heat causes chemical reactions and also destroys many of the beneficial constituents.

If you boil your tinctures, then you are not only reducing the effectiveness of the Tinctures, but also wasting your money.

Detox Alcohol Addiction ↟↟

How to Detox Alcohol Addiction Detox Alcohol Addiction information here.

Top Remove Synthetic Hormones Tincture

You will need:

Chaste Tree (Vitex agnus-castus).

  1. Powdered Chaste Tree berries (100 grams (3.5 oz))
  2. 40% ABV Vodka (750ml)
  3. Sealable glass container
  4. Coffee filter papers
  5. Dropper bottles
  6. Labels

Method

Add 750mls of vodka to your big container and slowly add the 100 grams of powdered herb.

Break up any lumps and clumps.

Put on the lid tightly.

Tincture Time (Steep)

With powder - 2 - 3 weeks and then ADD another 750mls of Vodka (@ 40% ABV).

With Solid Berries - 2 - 3 MONTHS and then ADD another 750mls of Vodka (@ 40% ABV).

See TIP at end of this section below.

Shake daily.

Shake or turn daily.

Labels

Put labels as described in the Labels LABEL section.

Filter

Filter through your coffee filter paper and then...

Pour into your dropper bottles.

Storage

Store in cool place OUT of sunlight for a minimum of 24 hours and then decant some liquid into a clean glass cup.

** Storing in the fridge helps reduce alcohol evaporation which gives it a longer shelf life.

Dosage

For the first 6 - 12 weeks, take 5ml (1 taespoon) daily.

Take with 1 or 2 cups of water so thatyou pee out the chemicals faster.

Maintenance

10 - 20 drops (1/2 - 1 teaspoon) daily at least 5 or 6 days a week as you are constantly exposed to synthetic hormones.

TIP

Filter as much of the first "batch" as possible, then (Then) add the second bottle of 750 Mls of Vodka and SHAKE container (with lid on), and then...

Wait for solids to settle, the filter that new batch.

After you have finished the second batch, add 2 cups of clean water and shake container.

Wait to settle and then filter that liquid and store in a seperate container and take that at 2 tablespoons a day until finished.

Leftover plant material?

The used powder is called the "Marc" and I explain how to dispose of / or reuse the Marc Marc in your compost and remove any alcohol first.

Top Mushrooms

Except Lion's Mane, I do not cover mushrooms because there are many that are poisonous and many that are beneficial BUT you need to know "which is which" without killing yourself.

I have listed 4 books below and the first one is by Paul Stamets who is very well respected within the Herbalist community.

Clinical Trials Books

Just remember that MOST Clinical Trials are conducted by people who GET funding from "somewhere" (where somewhere is usually the pharmaceutical industry) and they "often" have an agenda for specific results.

This usually comes in the form of Omitted data blocks and very dirty transparencies which are often whitewashed with black paint.

In fact, you could say that there is an epidemic of fraud in the scientific community.

Just so that you know...

Top Warnings

There are many herbs and plants (especially spices) which can be too potent for high dosages every day and indeed, some should be taken every 2 or 3 days.

And even then, only in very small doses.

For example:

  1. Lavender Warning Lavender Warning
  2. Rosemary Warning Rosemary Warning
  3. Lion's Mane Warning Lion's Mane Warning
  4. Elecampane Warning Elecampane Warning
  5. Goldenseal Warning Goldenseal Warning
  6. Spices Warning Spices Warning

When you research the herb, also look up its (taste) potency.

Lavender Specific Warning ↟↟

DO A SKIN Patch Test with Lavender before ingesting.

One of my neighbors (many years ago) used to drink Lavender tea and one day she gave some to her 10 year old daughter who had a severe reaction.

Her daughter reacted so badly she ended up in hospital for weeks.

While this is an extremely rare case, it is suggested that you do a SKIN patch test on any new herb before eating or drinking.

Rosemary Specific Warning ↟↟

Rosemary is a very strong herb and it "ideally" should be mixed with something else.

I mix mine with Lion's Mane at 20:1 but I strongly suggest that you start off with 20:1 or even 30:1 in the beginning.

That means (20:1) == 5 mls of Rosemary and 100mls of Lions Mane and then take several drops of this mixture a day.

DO NOT BE STUPID AND DRINK 100 MLS.

This Lion's Mane combo should only be taken 5 or 6 days a week again because even Lion's Mane is often too strong for most people even when mixed at 5:1 (5x alcohol to 1x Lion's Mane mushroom).

TIP:

You can magnify the effects of Lion's Mane and Rosemary if you also take Lithium Orotate daily and Meditate because both Lithium and meditation help with .

BTW, you ONLY need 1 or 2 mgs of Lithium Orotate daily - and you certainly do not need 50 or 100 or even 180mgs a day.

This is part of how I rebuilt my brain after my deadly accident in 2023.

Lion's Mane Specific Warning ↟↟

ion's Mane (mushroom) can be mixed with Brahmi and Rosemary if you like.

My ratio is 10mls Rosemary + 45mls Lion's Mane + 45mls Brahmi tincture.

I personally have been taking this for decades and I take 5 mls a day of this COMBO.

DO NOT BE STUPID AND DRINK 100 MLS.

This Lion's Mane combo should only be taken 5 or 6 days a week again because even Lion's Mane is often too strong for most people even when mixed at 5:1 (5x alcohol to 1x Lions Mane mushroom).

Elecampane Specific Warning ↟↟

Elecampane is also very strong and should be mixed with Mullein (leaf).

It is a strong expectorant especially when combined with Mullein.

Again I have been taking this for years but I would recommend starting this combo mixture at 20:1 to start with, especially for kids - 5mls Elecampane to 95mls Mullein tincture.

For kids.

If I may also suggest that "on top of" your 100mls of Mullein and Elecampane mixture, that you add 25ml - 30ml of Peppermint or Licorice Root for flavor.

Goldenseal Warning ↟↟

Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) is another very strong "herb" (plant) and should be taken in very small doses of 1 - 5 mls a day (5x days a week maximum) when sick and 1 - 3 drops a day when healthy.

Goldenseal contains "Berberine" which helps stimulate and activate the body's natural defense systems.

Goldenseal also contains Hydrastine and Canadine which have strong antibacterial benefits and is often referred to as a natural antibiotic - plus - Goldenseal is often promoted as an antifungal against intestinal fungal overgrowths like Candida.

Goldenseal is often found combined with other herbal supplements including as a cold and flu medication.

Adding Goldenseal to your Mullein and Elecampane tincture is a good suggestion.

Suggested that you add approx 10% - 20% GoldenSeal to your mixture of Mullein and Elecampane.

Note: If you are going to add the Licorice Root, then add this after you have made the combo formula.

SPICES Warning ↟↟

Never mix spices with other tinctures.

Always make small amounts of things like chili, garlic, hot peppers, oregano, nutmeg, cloves etc and store in separate containers in your fridge.

These may overpower and destroy the taste of most normal tinctures.

Add to foods as required.

Top Taste Tip:

There are a few plants that you can use to mask the taste of some other plants.

My top 2 are:

  1. Peppermint
  2. Licorice root

These are especially useful when you have kids and big baby husbands.

FYI: Peppermint is the strongest of the Mint family. So if it is too strong, you may like to try another variety of mint?

Top Disposing Of The Used Powder

The used powder (etc) is called the Marc and you can either toss in the garbage or you can compost, HOWEVER

Remember that this contain alcohol, so...

If you are going to compost you need to first soak in a bucket of water to remove all of the alcohol, - let the Marc settle and then pour off most of the water until you just have the wet powder left.

Use a small hand shovel or spoon and spread this over some old newspaper and let dry completely.

Leave in the sun for another week or so and this will allow the heat from the sun to evaporate any alcohol left behind.

If you do not do this, it may take many months (or even longer) for the "marc" to compost, plus earth worms are not big fans of alcohol.

OPTIONAL

I have some HUMIC Acid and I add several drops to a bucket, then I add enough water to be absorbed into the "marc". Humic acid speeds up the decomposition process.

Then I add to my compost.

Origin Of The Word "Marc" ↟↟

The word marc traditionally means the leftover waste material from the grapes that have been pressed - but this name is also applied to the residual powder left behind from Tincturing as well.

Top Detox Alcohol

I have written about how to here.

DO NOT use flush free.

Plus there is a lot more information on detoxing various other chemicals and heavy metals on the page.

Top Scientific Fraud

There is a lot of scientific fraud especially when it cones to alternate and herbal medicines.

Remember that humans have been using herbal medicines for literally thousands of years until Rockefeller came along and convinced corrupt politicians that we need "OIL" based medications because OIL and biological organics go so well together, just look at the mRna vaccine extraordinary damages and

Wikipedia

Wikipedia is overridden and controlled by "corporate" interests and many of the natural medicine and herbal medicine articles contain many NEGATIVE and Derogatory Psychological words (one of their favorites is pseudoscience) which are PSYOPS 101 designed to subliminally turn people off alternative medicines.

This is not by accident.

Wikipedia is well known to be one of the most corrupt data sources on this planet and I have even heard main stream media comment about this.

It Gets Worse With Corrupt AI

Source 1 All AI gets their feeds from online content and one of the most influential is Wikipedia.

Source 2 Most of what they tabulate is done on a "general consensus" basis - whereby if it appears "often" enough, then it must be true (just like how gossip is true).

But wait - it actually gets worse.

They now want us to trust "AI" to deliver the holy grail of medicine to us which is Genetic Specific medication based (primarily at the moment) on pharmaceutically made medications.

Just look at the deaths and human suffering that the has done and ask yourself if these draconian megalomaniacs can be trusted with your children's lives?

Modern vaccines have killed more people than WWII. You know that the rate is high because almost every Government on this planet is hiding the damage and death statistics. Except Japan where the Govt actually still cares about the people and has released their excess deaths report.

  1. Excess deaths

Why would they hide the deaths and injuries data unless there was something to hide?

And the fact that SO many Governments around the world are hiding this data, should show you the astronomical heights of corruption which pervades our society.

Demonized Herbs ↟↟

Most medicinal herbs are demonized in modern medicine.

If your doctor ever demonizes herbal medicines, ask them IF they eat food?

Food is a basic herbal medicine and then point out to them (I do) that they are are ignorant, arrogant and stupid.

Karmic Law ↟↟

There is a law in Karma in that if YOU suppress or control others (slavery, marriage etc), then you inherit an equal portion of their Karmic debt.

If you harm someone, verbally - even by misinformation - or physically, then your punishment is to return as a lower life form - usually these return are counted from 500 lifetimes per offence.

Do your own math if you misinform millions of people.

If you cause death (per person), then your return can be in the form of a plant or even rocks - and it may surprise you to learn that this is taught (at least) from the ancient Mayans, to the Vedic teachings through to Kabbalah.

And if you harm thousands or millions, the there is a special kind of hell awaiting your soul.

3 Examples ↟↟

1) Licorice Lie

As stated above, Licorice Root helps heal the liver and this has been demonized for decades.

Why?

Because a 57 Yr Old guy in Sweden died from a lack of potassium and he used to eat (salted) Licorice.

FYI: Western Europe, particularly the Netherlands and Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland), exhibits the highest per capita licorice consumption in the world.

The so called medical report provided NO transparencies of whether the guy was diabetic (highly possible at his age), whether he had other illnesses, what his sugar consumption was (sugar removes minerals like potassium) and whether he had (past and present tense at time of death) any other illnesses.

Yet they posted this damning report against Licorice for the world to see.

This should be a criminal offence.

2) The Sugar Lie

Harvard (yes, THAT harvard) did a study at the behest (and $$$ sponsorship) of the sugar industry (USA) and came to the absolute LIE that "Fat" caused obesity and this lie has killed 10's of millions of people since and caused severe physical damage to hundreds of millions of others through diseases associated with and directly caused by which includes a lowering of testosterone.

Harvard sugar fraud + + +

Professor John Yudkin (UK) denounced the study and do you know why he was ridiculed and dismissed?

Not because of the facts he presented, no, it was because he was Jewish.

This ignorance and hate has caused many of the family members of that original Harvard study scientists to also suffer along with all of the rest of us.

Professor Yudkin wrote a book called if you want to open your eyes to how you are being poisoned each day.

3) The Comfrey Lie

Comfrey is one of the most beneficial plants you can eat, it has long roots and brings up minerals from deep down in the soil.

Comfrey has also been falsely demonized by "modern" corrupt science.

First the original study Lie - and then the FACTS.

In the original study, they used BABY rats - and then they took the "Pyrrolizidine alkaloids" from (unknown species supposedly of) Comfrey and then they Concentrated these Pyrrolizidine alkaloids and injected this into the livers of the baby rats. (some reports say into the stomach)

The BABY rats died and this was their supposed basis for declaring one of the greatest herbal plants on this planet as toxic and dangerous (some even claimed it as deadly).

NOTE: In the original report I read in the early 2000's, it did not mention which variety or species of comfrey, while the report linked here specifies Russian Comfrey as the herb.

NOTE 2: The original report I read also claimed that it was BABY rats use while the NIH document says that it was adult rats.

I am not sure why there would be such a discrepancy between what I read and the NIH page?

It should also be noted that in the 2020 report I have linked, it also states that the specific name of the comfrey plant supposedly tested was not known.

2020 Comfrey Report

You can easily find this 2020 report online and and and and on

I would also suggest that you read this about "Pyrrolizidine alkaloids" as general knowledge because many plants contain "Pyrrolizidine alkaloids".

The Amish have eaten Comfrey for literally over 100's of years and they show no negative side-effects from it.

I cannot even remember when I started eating Comfrey it has been so long.

Trivia Du Jour: North America has its own native plant called Northern Wild Comfrey (formerly placed in the Cynoglossum family but now renamed as) Andersonglossum virginianum

Farmed Animals have eaten Comfrey for thousands of years without side-effects or else farmers would have known to remove the plants from their fields.

New 2020 Study and Report FACTS

A new professional conducted study on Comfrey was done in 2020 by Catharine Avila, Ian Breakspear, Jason Hawrelakc, Ses Salmond, Sue Evans and is called the "A systematic review and quality assessment of case reports of adverse events for borage (Borago officinalis), coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara) and comfrey (Symphytum officinale)" and this study clearly shows that the original report (study) was completely falsified.

This was blatantly obvious to those who read such reports because it did not even identify the Specific Comfrey species (or include the Botanical Name).

Comfrey Tincture

I also make a Comfrey tincture and drink 20mls a day of this (after dinner).

Comfrey is well known as a skin healer and (IMO) this helps me to stay looking younger (of which BTW, I do not really care about), but it is better to look and feel younger than it is to look and feel older - especially when you get older.

Please note that I am note egotistical enough to want to look younger, it is just that this is a general observation people often make about me - and so I thought that others may like to know this plant is also good for them.

Many other examples

There are many other examples, but I hope you get my point about scientific fraud.

Top Benefits Of The Artemisia Family

Many herbs (plants) are highly beneficial for human health and wellbeing, and below is a very brief example using the plant with the common name of "Artemisia".

Artemisia is also recommended by "Remote Viewers" and psychics to enhance their "psychic" abilities.

Artemisia has a very large family and is known by many other common names including (but not limited to), Absinth Sage, Absinth Wormwood, Absinth Sagewort, Common Sagewort, Absinthe Mugwort, Absinthium, Mugwort, Wormwood, Yomogi.

There are so many in fact that if you search the World Plant Database, it shows almost 2,300 results (some are not confirmed).

Across Africa is is commonly known as Umhlonyane, Mhlonyane, Lanyana, Lengana, Fivi, Lusange and Lunyaga.

While the names may vary from country to country, the plant contains mostly the same beneficial medicinal compounds as their relatives.

While most people just use the "Leaves" to make a tea, in Tanzania it is common to see people add the "stems" as well and it is claimed that this makes the tea an even more potent anti-viral.

Studies show that it is very useful to help control especially when taken with an "iron" supplement.

Southern Wormwood Study ↟↟

Studies done on Artemisia abrotanum L. (southern wormwood).

Artemisia abrotanum L. (southern wormwood) - originally from the Baltic States has been introduced into the US, Africa and Eurasia.

The extract is below.

Artemisia abrotanum L. (southern wormwood) is a plant species with an important position in the history of European and Asian medicine.

It is a species famous as a medicinal plant in Central Asia, Asia Minor, and in South-East and Central Europe.

The raw materials obtained from this species are Abrotani herba and Abrotani folium.

In the traditional European medicine, they have been used successfully most of all in liver and biliary tract diseases, in parasitic diseases in children and as antipyretic medication.

In the official European medicine, this plant species is recommended by the French Pharmacopoeia for use in homeopathy.

In many European countries, it is used traditionally in allopathy.

The latest studies on the biological activity of extracts from the aboveground parts of the plant and/or the leaves, and/or the essential oil have provided evidence of other possible applications related to their antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, anticancer, and antiallergic properties.

The latest studies have also focused on the repellent activity of the essential oil of this species and the possibility to use it in the prevention of diseases in which insects are the vectors.

The main substances obtained from the plant that are responsible for this activity are: the essential oil, coumarins, phenolic acids, and flavonoids.

Some of the latest investigations emphasize the large differences in the composition of the essential oil, determined by the geographical (climatic) origin of the plant.

"A. abrotanum" is recommended by the European Cosmetic Ingredients Database (CosIng) as a source of valuable cosmetic ingredients.

Additionally, the leaves of this species possess a well-established position in the food industry.

This plant species is also the object of biotechnological studies.

Summary

Artemisia abrotanum has been shown to be highly effective in helping to heal skin conditions.
