Meditation And Anxiety
I could write hundreds of pages (and more) on how meditation has been proven to be beneficial in reducing anxiety, stress and depression but I will "just link to studies" so you can research these facts yourself.
Important
It is important to note that nutrition and chemicals also affect your body and mind - often more than you realize.
Cortisol ↟↟
One of the important ways that Meditation helps placate anxiety is by controlling the cortisol secretion within the brain.
Cortisol is a hormone that helps the body respond to stress - sometimes positively but more often negatively in a modern built up society - and it affects almost every organ and tissue in the body.
Cortisol is your Flight or Fight stimulant.
Meditation helps you calm your brain and (often) logically think through a situation.
Cortisol is also beneficial to the body, but it should be controlled. As the old saying goes, "a good servant but a bad master".
Cortisol is not the only cause of stress, depression and anxiety.
Other Imbalances
You also have Nutrition Deficiency and Chemical Imbalances from chemical farming and medications.
Taking liquid Iodine often helps people "find their brain" - but you still need control - which is what meditation offers you - if done properly.

Anxiety And Nutrition Deficiency
Many people these days ingest too much sugar which not only causes diabetes, blindness and is the leading cause of amputations, but sugar also removes critical minerals from the body and brain which is associated with depression and anxiety according to "Dr Sarah Ballantyne" et al.
Sugar has been proven to be directly associated with many other "Illnesses" as well.

In the Monasteries of Tibet and the Ashrams of India, anxiety and depression are known as "Meditation Sickness" and this is because many Monks try and restrict their food intake to the point where they just eat refined flour.
Hydroponic Disaster
Many supermarkets now stock hydroponically grown vegetables - and there is a problem with these.
This is because many Hydroponic companies only use between 9 - 33 minerals to grow their plants and they rely on Nitrogen (N) to make the plant greener and thus look healthy.
This green business is a delusional illusion which is compounded by replacement halogens like chlorine and bromine and low levels of Vitamin D and real absorbable minerals in our general diets.
In many countries, "Bromine" + is added to bread to make it look whiter.

Anxiety And Chemicals
This will come as no shock to most people that chemicals also contribute to stress, depression and anxiety.
One of the most abundant of these negative effect chemicals is called Bisphenol-A (BP-A) which is found in soft PER plastics and which leaches out into the liquid, especially in hot weather.
Bisphenol-A (BP-A) is an Estrogen Disrupting synthetic female hormone. + + + + + + + 
In "Europe" (EU), BPA (BP-A) is classified as a hazardous chemical.
