Top What Is Free Will?

"All is foreseen, and freedom of choice is granted. The world is judged with goodness, but in accordance with the amount of mankind's positive deeds."

הַכֹּל צָפוּי, וְהָרְשׁוּת נְתוּנָה, וּבְטוֹב הָעוֹלָם נִדּוֹן. וְהַכֹּל לְפִי רֹב הַמַּעֲשֶׂה

Free Will does exist but there are limitations.

This is reflected in the physical world as well.

For example:

Let's say that "Person A" robs or harms "Person B". When "Person A" gets caught, they go to jail and lose most of their free will options.

Going to jail (or other harm to freedom or self) is called consequences.

This same "consequences principle" applies on a spiritual level as well.

If we - as a collective - do the right thing, then the "Dew" of heaven is bestowed upon us.

The biggest problem here for most people is that they do not understand what the "Dew" represents or they would give up their corrupt ways immediately.

If we - as a collective - do the wrong thing, and dependent upon the level of negativity we manifest, any number of limited natural disasters - such as fires, volcanoes, earthquakes, plagues etc may visit us.

If however, our "evil" capacity is off the Richter scale, then much greater disasters - typically from - will visit us - as has often happened in the past - see the page.

This become more apparent if you view most of ancient "mythology" as being events.

The Chinese "fire dragons" become meteorites and then you have the Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Maya, Aztec, Vedic, Hebrew, Sumerian, Hopi and many other ancient cultures which experienced catastrophic celestial events and recorded these events in a manner - which people who were not overly educated - could relate to.

Also see the following.

Note that not everything in the (#3) Zeitgeist video is accurate, but I include this to give you a different perspective.

Consider this:

Someone commits a robbery and gets caught - as most do sooner or later - and ends up spending a minimum of 10 years in jail.

Consider how much income and social life they lose in jail, compared to being free and having greater choices over their quality of life?

To most guys, wine, women and song is better than rum, bum and records.

SUMMARY

So "yes" you have free will, but there are limitations - just as there are limitations when driving a vehicle.

When you exceed the limitations of "polite" society, then there are consequences and these are often severe consequences.

Lesson Du Jour? ↟↟

So what is the Lesson Du Jour?

PLAN A: Make smarter decisions, contribute to society with love and kindness and strive to be a better, more spiritual person.

PLAN B: All of Plan A plus also do .

Meditation or Prayer requires at least 30 minutes a day and there are many most people enjoy from doing this.

Top Inheriting Karma From Others

However, your Free Will can be affected by how you treat others.

This is the bad news for people who control or manipulate others.

If you deny someone Free Will and you control someone (for example the way that many men control their wives), then IF that person does something wrong, YOU inherit their as well.

This is because you did not allow them to have Free Will.

Free Will is not about choosing which ice cream to buy, it is about all decisions each of us makes during our lifetime and this includes small and BIG decisions.

So, if the person you are controlling harms "anyone", physically, mentally or spiritually, then their "Karma" becomes your Karma.

Remember

Karma does not care if you believe in it or not.

If you want to know how severe Karma can be, please consider the koan.

Top Past Life Affects

Purushartha (Purushaarth) is a central concept in Hinduism, referring to the four proper goals of human life - and these are:

  1. Dharma (righteousness, ethics)
  2. Artha (prosperity, material well-being)
  3. Kama (pleasure, desire, love)***
  4. Moksha (liberation, spiritual realization)

With Moksha being the ultimate destination.

*** Regarding "Kama". I would like to point out that all things must be in balance otherwise you end up with an over indulgent society where the spiritual aspects and goals become blurred because of physical desires.

An essential part of Purushartha (Purushaarth) is called "Free Will" and it exists alongside destiny, allowing individuals to shape their future through present choices.

While it is important to experience "certain aspects" of physicality, over indulgence is the primary cause of the destruction of each civilization with food and sex being the 2 main primary offenders as we see in the

Free Will gives you the potential opportunity to realize that what you are doing is wrong, make amends and repent but it does not exclide you from any Karmic Debt you have incurred from damage caused by your actions.

Purushaarth can however, be affected and even limited by past actions, with the Atman (soul) paying the penalty for any bad decisions mode during each lifetime - including this one.

For example, if you robbed someone in a previous life and you were not caught and punished, there is a high degree of probability that in your next lifetime, you will be accused (rightly or wrongly) with committing a crime and serve some kind of sentence regardless of whether or not you are innocent this lifetime.

The name "India" is a modern nome for a country which used to be called "Bharat" which literally translates as "One who bears and carries" (the responsibility of creation in our physical world).

This "responsibility" is to draw down spiritual energy through prayer and meditation - into the physical world which maintains and supports the quantum spiritual levels which support Creation.

Whether you believe this or not, the same principle applies in Judaism where the term is called "The Yoke of the Torah".

The Bhagavad Gita emphasizes the responsibility of duty (the WILL of God) and a persons personal actions to help overcome Karmic limitations - both their own limitations and even Creation itself - however, some philosophies / religions teach that God's will is absolute and we do not have "Free Will".

I have found that those who preach such "stories" are usually in some kind of fanatical cult or religion where suppression and fear are used as the guiding force - instead of Love and compassion.

Any religion or sect which uses fear and force to make people comply comes from the side of evil - or a modern analogy would be from the "applicably named" dark side.

Every action creates Karma - and this even includes inactions where you have the chance to help someone but you do not do so - but humans have the freedom to choose their response, either binding themselves further in Karmic debt - or moving towards spiritual liberation (Moksha).

Why site in a cave?

There is a way to save hundreds of useless lifetimes of Karmic return if you are interested as I explain here on the page.

Top Karmic Warning

Do not think that because you have money that you are immune from Karmic Justice.

In Hinduism, (Purushartha) and "Destiny" (Prarabdha Karma) co-exist in a fine balance.

You have the freedom to make choices, but be warned, if you make negative choices, then these choices have negative Karmic consequences - and if you make positive choices, then they have positive spiritual benefits.

Your thoughts, your speech and your actions - including any action you instigate via others either directly or indirectly - are all calculated either for or against you.

For example, if you write down "kill someone" and years or even centuries later another person reads this and acts upon your words, then you also bear responsibility for any and all deaths associated with your actions even if they are hundreds or thousands of years old.

This "responsibility" includes indirect associated harm you may cause as well.

For example:

If any "person" reads your words many hundreds of years later, acts upon these words and actually causes death to another person and their family is injured (eg: starvation, destitute, imprisoned etc) as a consequence of your words, then You also bear Karmic responsibility for these actions - as well.
