Intermittent Fasting has been shown to reduce Fatty Liver Disease (including AFLD and NAFLD). 
There are 5 stages to doing this "Water Fasting" technique.
- 16 hours of NO food (just water)
- 18 hours of NO food (just water)
- 23 hours of NO food (just water)
- 2 days of NO food (just water)
- 5 days of NO food (just water)
You choose which one is safest for you.
This works when the body detects your normal "Glycogen" levels becoming low and then it starts to scavenge fat from around your liver.
It also lowers insulin levels, raises ketones and shuts down the production of fat being produced by the body.
And the good news is that this process starts within after 16 hours (not days or weeks) - so if you do the OMAD diet, then you should quickly lose fat from around your liver. 

When I do OMAD, I only eat fermented vegetables.
Fasting also activates AMP-Kinase. 

AMPK (AMP-Kinase) is the signaling mediator hormone which tells your body to start scavenging your fat reserves.

WARNINGS
1) Never do hard work or exercise when Fasting.
2) Always carry some kind of candy (sweets) with you in case you need emergency food (sugar fix).
3) Never drive when Fasting.
Timeline
Results start after 16 hours of not eating BUT the best results start after 3 days of not eating and while Autophagy kicks in after +- 16 hours, the most activity "usually" happens after day 10 of Fasting.
Autophagy is when your body starts repairing itself.

You can drink plain water.
No food of any kind.
Electrolytes are recommended (strongly recommended) like Potassium, Magnesium and Calcium.

Learning to eat OMAD (One Meal A Day) is not as easy as many think.
One of the biggest problems is that people start substituting quality nutritious food with "quick meals" filled with sugar and eventually they become diabetic, cancer ridden or get some other nasty disease.
Sugar acidifies your body and there is a reason that your body is a pH 7.4 (slightly alkaline) when healthy.
This narrow range is essential for survival, enabling proper oxygenation, enzyme function, and metabolic processes and while the body "can" naturally manage this pH balance through the lungs and kidneys, it can also become overloaded when you eat or drink too much sugar.
One of the natural healing strategies my Naturopathic Doctor (ND) recommends is to take a 1/4 teaspoon of Baking Soda (Sodium bicarbonate / Bicarb or soda) with a cup of water before you go to sleep.
He says that this helps the body regain a pH balance especially if you have drunk any sodas (soft drinks) or eaten too much sugary foods during the day.
He also suggests that stopping excessive sugar intake is a smarter approach.
